The Pilgrims of the Reek
Occurring on the final Sunday of July each year Catholic pilgrims descend upon County Mayo in Ireland to climb Croagh Patrick, Ireland's most holy mountain (known to locals as 'The Reek') in a tradition that dates back thousands of years.
Legend says that the mountain's namesake St. Patrick spent 40 days & nights fasting and praying on the mountain in the 5th century and many believe it was from this mountain that he banished all the snakes from Ireland.
This series documents the pilgrimage and those who choose to follow in the footsteps of Ireland's patron saint.
